Spend Your Summer in Georgia

That is the key message of the social campaign that started recently to support the Georgian tourism industry this year. That was a global community response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ban on flights to Georgia within Russian official’s boycott of tourism and trade relations with Georgia.

The President of Georgia Salome Zurabichvili personally called on all European leaders and all Europeans to come to Georgia this summer in her Twitter post: "Between our mountains, beaches, historical sites, food and wine, and hospitality, you’ll have an unforgettable time!”

The same message has appeared a day earlier in Georgian Zurab Pololikashvili, who is the Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Twitter account. The supportive policies have transformed the country into a "real tourism success story" – the post says.

Among others we should also name a tweet from USAID Georgia inviting to discover adventure tourism opportunities in Georgia including agritourism, rafting, canyoning, horse-riding and hiking.

On June 26, Ambassador of Georgia Gela Dumbadze held a press conference "Travel to Georgia - Support Georgia" at the Embassy of Georgia, main purpose of which was to increase tourist flow of citizens of Ukraine to Georgia. Ambassador Gela Dumbadze called for both Ukrainian and Georgian media, tour operators and airlines to support #VisitGeorgia campaign, emphasizing that Georgia is one of the safest countries in the world and its’ tourists potential has not yet been fully recognized by Ukrainian tourists.

Ambassador of Georgia Gela Dumbadze noted that flexible prizes and welcoming glass of wine for tourists would be bonus for those who would take a chance to discover Georgian hospitality, culture and national traditions, picturesque nature and inspiring leisure this summer.

Meanwhile the social campaign under the hashtag #VisitGeorgia #SpendYourSummerinGeorgia continues where Georgians as well as foreign visitors share their personal experience of travelling in Georgia and inviting everyone to support the tourism industry by travelling in Georgia this year.
