Gorgeous Fountain is Being Installed in Grechesky Park
A magnificent fountain called “Nachalo Nachal” (“Starting Point”) designed by well-known sculptor Mikhail Reva has been recently delivered to Odesa. The unusual fountain consists of around 150 elements. It will be unveiled in Grechesky park on the occasion of Odesa City Day on September 2. Currently the park is being renovated by the efforts of Bumburas fund, and the installation of the fountain is a part of renovation works. The fund representatives say that the works do not stop 24/7. On the City Day, Odessa dwellers and guests who come to Grechesky park will enjoy open-air museum, kids zone and walking area with terraces, alleys and numerous entertainment options. Guests of the celebration will be able to enter the park by stairs, panoramic elevator or ramp.
First OCEANMAN Swim Race Will Take Place in Odesa
OCEANMAN is an international open water swimming championship — a marathon offering its participants to cover distances from 1.5 to 15 km. The event annually unites several thousands of swimmers. The 8 stages of the championship take place in different countries of the world with the final stage held in Dubai. This year Odesa will host one of the championship stages for the first time in Ukrainian history. On September 8-9, around 1000 professional and amateur swimmers will take part in the contest on Lanzheron beach in Odesa. The competition program includes the following races: OCEANMAN 10-km race, Half OCEANMAN 5-km race, 3х500 m swimming relay, 2-km sprint, OCEANKIDS 500-m race and 1-km charity race.
New Hidden Art Yard in the City Center
Odesa artists have turned an ordinary yard in the center of the city at the address 10, Nekrasova lane into a real open-air gallery of modern art. Here painters, sculptors, woodcarvers and photographers present their works to the dwellers and guests of Odesa. In the yard, you will see wall with numerous photos and paintings on it; white statue of angel with a cross on a dry tree; a wooden figure of a sitting thoughtful man called “Thinker-Philosopher”. The authors of the idea, sculptresses Taisia Kapustarinska and Yana Gaiduta, tell that they rented a workshop in this building and decided to decorate the yard. Now this place became popular among tourists and locals who love unique artistic atmosphere of the location.

Old Trolley Bus Route # 5 Re-launched
If you already know about reconstruction works on the 5th station of Big Fountain in Odesa, you also could notice that these works caused changes in public transport system. The routes of trolley buses # 7 and 9 temporary go through Segedska street, bypassing Shevchenko avenue. In this way, the avenue was going to be left without electric transport. Luckily, the city government remembered about forgotten trolley bus route # 5 connecting Arcadia beach with the city center. The route was re-launched and now it has up to 5 trolley buses running daily. By the way, it is the fastest way to reach Arcadia from Odesa center.
“By the Sea” Modern Art Exhibition by Anton Logov
On August 15, 2018, “By the Sea” exhibition of the modern Ukrainian artist Anton Logov was opened in Invogue #ART gallery in Odesa. Anton Logov, the author of many art objects and installations, was born in 1984 in Rozdilne town of Odesa oblast`. His new exhibition reminds us that the city where we’ve been grown up stays in our hearts forever. “By the Sea” is actually a spacious installation, consisting of many works united by one topic. Here you will see oil and acrylic paintings; drawing easel that Anton used during his years of studying in Odesa art school; paintings created in the period when Anton lived in Kyiv; unusual signs and spots on the walls; a film with black writings stretched at the entrance. The exhibition will last till September 15, 2018. Admission is free.
