The mayor says that this year Kyiv is going to be literally crowded with tourists. In the end of May, Ukrainian capital will be visited by thousands of sports fans who wish to watch UEFA 2017/18 Champions League final. It will be the final game of 63d season of the most prestigious football club tournament under the aegis of UEFA. The event will take place on May 26, 2018 in Kyiv on Olympiyskyi stadium for the first time in the history of Ukraine. By the way, during the 60-year history of UEFA Championship the final game was held in Eastern Europe only once: in Moscow in 2008 on Luzhniki stadium. The whole tournament of UEFA 2017/18 Champions League is organized under the motto “Road to Kyiv”. This is a great chance for world community to see Ukraine in a positive way. According to preliminary data, the game in Kyiv will be watched by around 600 million people all over the world, which will surely become a successful promotion for Kyiv and for Ukraine as a whole.

The mayor of Ukrainian capital Vitaliy Klychko said: “On May 26, UEFA Championship League will take place. We expect lots of tourists. Our task is to make each of them tell how wonderful Kyiv is when they come back home. Touristic branch is one of the most profitable income items of each city. In the previous year our city was visited by 1.5 million tourists, and this year we expect 2.5 million guests. I am convinced that Kyiv has a great touristic potential, and we are developing it. This year, we will renovate Saint Volodymyr`s hill, Peyzazhna alley, Artists` alley. Soon we will open very beautiful stairs from Peyzazhna alley to Gonchary and Kozhemyaky terrain. We will also modernize territory around Saint Andrew`s Church.”.

Vitaliy also mentioned that in autumn 2018 Kyiv welcomes numerous guests who are going to come for 56th World Boxing Council (WBC) congress. The event is scheduled for September 30 – October 5, 2018. This is the first time when Ukrainian capital will host such a big boxing event. The mayor also said: “We expect many visitors and more than 600 participants from more than 100 countries – boxing stars, promoters, judges and sports officials. This is another great opportunity to attract more guests to Kyiv and to present our city. As the capital`s mayor, I see my mission in doing everything possible to make more people come to Kyiv. We are preparing to hold the event at the highest level and to represent Kyiv and Ukraine honorably.”.
Vitaliy Klychko, an “eternal” champion of WBC, personally made agreements about holding the congress. The organizers plan to acquaint participants of the congress with Ukrainian culture and traditions.
The mayor notes that each tourist spends approximately USD 150 per day while staying in Kyiv, which is an important investment in the city`s economy.

Renovations of Kyiv Attractions in Spring 2018
This year, Ukrainian capital will host big important sport events such as UEFA Championship and World Boxing Council congress. Kyiv administration takes this challenge seriously and has already started to prepare the city for the upcoming inrush of tourists. In spring 2018, several renovated touristic sights will be opened in Kyiv, making city more attractive for foreign guests. This information has been recently announced by the city state administration media office and personally by the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klychko.
