Alfa Jazz Fest 2017

Since 2011, the Ukrainian city of Lviv has been home to a new Jazz Festival. Here the "blue note" meets Eastern Europe, with lively improvisation, available to all. Alfa Jazz Fest is a festival on an international scale. The festival will not only bring the world’s best jazz artists together; it will plunge the city into the spirit of European-level music performance during upcoming summer weekend.



This festival was established in 2011. In recent years the festival has developed and flourished greatly. Now it offers three stages in various locations around the city and is hosting artists from all over Europe and the US, such as Pat Metheny, Esperanza Spalding, Dianne Reeves and Branford Marsalis, who are joined by Cuban trumpet virtuoso Arturo Sandoval.
2017 Alfa Jazz Fest headliners include jazz legends like Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, Gregory Porter, China Moses and Herbie Hancock.

UK group Sons of Kemet and master percussionist Trilok Gurtu performing in the open air on beautiful Rynok Square will be among the free highlights away from the main Eddie Rosner stage.
In addition to concerts of jazz musicians from around the world, during the festival jam sessions, master-classes and autograph sessions of world jazz stars are held.
Main Festival events will be held on the main stage in Boghdan Khmelnitsky Culture Park (4, Bolgarska Str.). This stage was given the name in honor of the great jazz musician Eddie Rosner.
Concerts on this stage will be held on June 23 - 27. Entrance to parterre requires tickets. Entrance to picnic zone of the Park is for free. Eddie Rosner stage offers unique tent construction which protects from the rain and sun as well as bars where you can buy drinks and snacks (payments only by Alfa Jazz Card).
Guests who have not managed to buy tickets for concerts of the stage dedicated to Eddie Rosner, have a possibility for comfortable placement in the picnic area of the park and watch the concert on large LED screens.

The best chamber stage of Alfa Jazz Fest will be placed in the inner yard of the amazing Pototsky Palace (15a, Copernika str.) this year. Now the lounge zone on the grass in the picturesque garden is becoming the most comfortable place for midday jazz. The concerts will be held here from June 24 to 27 from 12:00 to 16:00. 

Another open-air stage will be located on a beautiful square of the city – Rynok Square, Lviv’s favorite place for cultural events. This stage will be opened till evening, introducing the city musicians never seen before. 
Concerts on this stage will be held on June 23-27.
Rynok Square is heart of the city. It is surrounded not only with the marvelous architectural ensemble, but a numerous restaurants and cafes open-air terraces, where festival guests can enjoy the music of jazz stars, while having a cup of famous Lviv coffee. Rynok square is situated in few minutes to the second city stage.
